Meet Laura

Laura Hois is a wife, mom, community leader, and lawyer. In Downers Grove since 1985, Laura served as Town Clerk where she achieved cost savings and provided enhanced customer services. An elected committeeman since 2010, she is a pro-America grassroots advocate.

Laura frequently speaks at local school, library, village and park district board meetings. She is known as the voice for "We the People," fighting to restore common sense, individual rights, merit-based education, limited government, lower taxes and a free market economy. 

As conservative, she opposes WOKE policies such as sexual influencing in schools and pornography in libraries, Laura co-led efforts to cause the cancellation of a Drag Queen event for children at the Downers Grove Public Library, a place that should be a neutral institution.

Laura led efforts to end COVID mandates at Community High School District 99. More recently, Laura successfully persuaded the Downers Grove Park District Board to modify its ordinance restricting free speech in public parks (See Chicago Sun-Times March 18, 2025).

She founded the Law Office of Laura L. Hois in Downers Grove in 2010 after 19 years as real estate and franchise counsel at McDonald's Corporation. She led negotiations training nationwide and chaired the Women’s Leadership Network to help advance women’s careers. 

Laura received the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Exelon Corporate Counsel of the Year Award in 2006 and Center for Disability and Elder Law’s 2005 Volunteer Award in recognition of her pro bono legal work and community involvement. 

Laura is co-chair of Awake Illinois' Downers Grove Chapter, is active at Community Christian Church, and volunteers at community events including Grove Fest and area food drives.

Laura and husband Billy live in Downers Grove and raised 4 children. A lifelong Illinois resident, 

Laura wants to help District 81 residents find better jobs and business opportunities.
